Scholarship Description: These scholarships are part of the Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarship (KESS) programme which aims at widening access to postgraduate study and encourage high calibre graduates to work on a range of collaborative research projects with small and medium sized organisations located in the Convergence Area of Wales (Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea & Torfaen).     We offer awards totalling £250,000 every year, with each international scholarship worth £3,300. These are open to prospective full-time postgraduates in any subject area on a one-year taught masters degree. Scholarships are available for both September entry and January entry (for courses with a relevant start date).
    You can apply online for scholarships for September 2011 entry. Please note that we cannot consider applications received after the deadline. Remember that the scholarships application procedure is separate from the admissions application procedure. Before you begin your application, please make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria.     University of Alabama Offers PhD Foreign Student Scholarship Positions in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, USA

    Scholarship Description: The laboratory is engaged in several research projects covering monitoring of human behaviors in natural environment and biofeedback. The positions are available in two tracks:

    1. Wearable sensor development. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on experience in design, prototyping and fabrication of digital
    and analog electronic circuits, microcontroller interfacing, C/C++ programming, as well as familiarity with Matlab, Labview and digital signal processing.

    2. Signal processing and pattern recognition. The ideal candidate will have a practical experience with signal processing algorithms as well
    as familiarity with method of machine learning and computational intelligence. Matlab, Labview and C/C+ (or Java) proficiency is desired.

    The candidate is expected to be a reliable and self-motivated team player. The assistantship covers a yearly stipend and tuition. These positions may potentially lead to a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
